Julia and Porter Commit to Grad School!
In honor of decision day, we want to highlight Julia and Porter's grad school commitments. Julia will be pursuing her Neuroscience PhD at Virginia Tech and Porter will be pursuing her PhD in Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Sciences at University of Vermont!

Sahitya's review is out at FEBS Letters!
This review is part of our collaborative efforts with Morton lab to help our laboratory understand altered neurodevelopment trajectories in neurodegenerative diseases like Leigh syndrome.

Brooke has a paper out in PLOS ONE!
Brooke's debut first-author paper, Cognitive and affective empathy in binge drinking during late adolescence, is now published! Congratulations, Brooke! Read the paper here .

ASBMB 2026
Dr. Biswas presented his poster, "Impaired Complex I dysregulates neural/glial precursors and corpus callosum development revealing postnatal defects in Leigh syndrome mice", at the ASBMB annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Alicia is the Graduate Mentor of the Month
Very grateful for our team of talented researchers!!

Dr. Biswas was featured in VT News!
Sahitya's findings are outlined in the article with quotes included from Dr. Pickrell. This has been a very fruitful collaboration with Dr. Morton. Very exciting, Sahitya! Read the article here .

Swagatika's paper is out in Autophagy!
This was truly a team effort from all members of the laboratory. We found that loss of autophagy results in mitotic defects and errors due to TBK1 overactivation.

Sahitya's paper is out in EMBO Molecular Medicine!
Sahtiya and lab members past and present found postnatal defects in LS stem cell pools that contribute to defects in neurogenesis and oligogenesis in collaboration with Morton lab!

ASCB/EMBO Cell Bio 2025
Porter presents her poster at Cell Bio 2025 and enjoys Philadelphia.

Dr. Colin Kelly Passes His Dissertation Defense!
Congratulations to our remarkable Dr. Kelly for passing his dissertation defense!

SfN San Diego 2025
Brooke, Colin, and Julia present their posters at SfN and enjoy the MDS Parkinson's disease society satellite meeting in CA.

Dr. Sahitya Ranjan Biswas Passes His Dissertation Defense!
Congratulations to our amazing Dr. Bi swas for passing his dissertation defense!
